Accelerated Reader (AR)
I am encouraging the children to read & take several AR tests during Second Grade. Lets have FUN reading!!!
Here are some important things about our Accelerated Reader Program~
The children will take (AR) tests using Chromebooks. Please fill out the paper if your child has read the book and is ready to take an Accelerated Reader (AR) test. In order to take an AR test on a book you have to locate the AR Quiz number on http://www.arbookfind.com . If you have access to the internet please locate the AR Quiz number and have it written down on your child’s AR paper ahead of time. This will save a lot of time and help out my parent volunteers. Example: Miss Nelson Is Missing! By Allard, Harry AR Quiz No. 5234 If your child has read an (AR) book, please fill out the AR paper that was sent home and return it back to school. This paper can be kept on the “Bring Back to School” side.
How do I know if the book is an AR book?
*If a library book has an AR label on the edge of the binding or sometimes our supplemental book is an Accelerated Reader book.
*You may have some books at home on your bookshelves that the children can take an AR test on. http://www.arbookfind.com
How many questions are on each AR test?
*Most books your Second grader will read may have 5 or 10 comprehension questions.
These questions test how well your child comprehended the story.
How many times should my child read an AR book before taking a test?
*It is very important that your child is comprehending what they are reading. They can read the book once, however it is helpful to ask them questions about the book to test how well they comprehended the story before taking a test.
*They are only allowed to take a test on an AR book ONCE during grade school, so please make sure they have comprehended the story before asking to take a test.*

You can receive updates on reading progress, view a list of all books that have been read, monitor progress toward goals, see the number of quizzes taken and words read, search for the next book to read, view vocabulary words learned and create e-mail notifications. You will need your student’s username and password to view their records.
